Referee threatened by fans after UNC win wants to keep lawsuit out of Kentucky

Referee John Higgins, who was an official in the UNC Tar Heels vs. Kentucky Wildcats NCAA basketball tournament game, wouldn’t get a fair trial and could be endangered if the venue was changed to Kentucky where many University of Kentucky men’s basketball fans’ reside, his attorney said in a court document. Higgins wants a federal judge to reject a motion by Kentucky Sports Radio and founder Matt Jones to dismiss the case in Nebraska where Higgins lives and has a roofing and siding company, Weatherguard.

Five things to remember from UNC’s West Coast trip

North Carolina’s basketball team returned to Chapel Hill on Nov. 27, 2018 after 11 days on the West Coast. The Tar Heels spent the first of those days in northern California, for the Tar Heels’ game against Stanford, and then the remainder in Portland, where UNC won its first two games in the PK80 before its 63-45 defeat against Michigan State in one of the tournament’s two championship games.
